The cryolipolysis fat freezing process is specifically designed to remove fat through a process called apoptosis. How this works is the stubborn deposits of fat cells are deliberately damaged using cryotherapy. After the cells die, the body naturally absorbs and metabolises them.
This type of treatment offers far more superior results than other fat removal treatments, such as laser liposuction, which offers very limited or no effect on any of the underlying fat cells. Another major benefit of cryolipolysis, is it’s a non-invasive treatment, so it doesn’t result in side effects such as postoperative scarring, like other more traditional fat removal treatments, such as surgical liposuction.
Most cryolipolysis sessions take under an hour, but the results may not be fully evident for a few weeks. Over a period of 12 weeks following initial treatment, the area of fat that has been treated slowly die and are naturally absorbed back into the body. The treatment consists of a specifically sized applicator which is applied to the chosen treatment area. Then, the targeted tissue is sucked into the handle and cold therapy is applied.

Cryolipolysis provides us with the ability to freeze fat in specific areas, including stomach, flanks, waist, hips, love handles, chin, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, upper arms, bra lines, double chin and banana rolls.

To treat muffin tops or love handles, for example, you’ll need 2 applicators (one on each side) for an even body sculpting result. For the abdomen, you may need 1, 2 or 4 applicators, depending on the size and shape of your belly fat and your desired results.

Cryolipoysis is safe for almost everyone, provided we can put a suitable amount of tissue into the applicator head. However, it’s not as effective in patients interested in losing lots of weight (such as obese patients).
