As the name suggests, urinary incontinence is nothing but the inability of an individual to have voluntary control over their urinary capabilities. In such cases, the person often wets themselves since they cannot hold or release as per their will.

This may happen due to a variety of reasons the most popular ones of them being pregnancy, obesity, and age-related onset of disorders. Some of the types of urinary incontinence based on the reasons they occur are as follows:

Types of urinary incontinence

  • Stress Incontinence:

    This phenomenon is nothing but a slight leakage of urine every time you put physical stress on your bladder. This may happen when you exercise, sneezing loudly, laugh too hard, jumping, or coughing.

    Any activity that places slight pressure on your bladder can result in some dripping of urine since your bladder is unable to hold it in such situations. The urethra and bladder are supported by the pelvic floor muscles, which contract during coughing, sneezing and exercise to prevent leakage. Weakness in the muscles or damage to the bladder neck support can result in leakage.
