What is the difference between TruSculpt ID and cryolipolysis

As we all strive for that elusive beach bod in time for our glorious Australian Summer, many of us often struggle with firming up and toning specific areas of our bodies. Sometimes there’s only so much we can achieve with weight loss and exercise, and then comes innovation! There are now revolutionary, powerful, non-invasive technologies and treatments that can help rid us of those pesky “Stage 5 Clinger” fatty tissues hanging on to numerous areas of our body. The only choice we need to make is Hot or Cold?

TruSculpt ID

TruSculpt ID transmits radiofrequency energy deep into the chosen treatment area to penetrate the entire fat layer from skin to muscle over 15 minutes. Through a process called Apoptosis, the optimised Radiofrequency Energy selectively damages the targeted fat cells, which is then absorbed and expelled from the body over a period of 12 to 16 weeks. The brilliant part about this is that the heat energy produced from the radiofrequency is enough to damage the fat cells, but not enough to harm your skin, blood vessels, or any other cells. Another welcome benefit of this treatment is that radiofrequency provided, also improves skin laxity and texture through stimulating collagen production. While TruSculpt ID is a treatment that can be helpful to almost anyone, some conditions that would make this treatment unsuitable for patients, such as:

– If you have poor abdomen wall tone
– If you are fitted with a pacemaker
– If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
– If you have metal implants in the chosen treatment area

Cryolipolysis (also commonly referred to by clients as Cool Sculpting or fat freezing) is a treatment that freezes fat deposits through a process called Apoptosis. The fat cells in your chosen treatment area are purposely damaged and broken down, for the body to then naturally absorb and metabolise. There are three different types of fat freezing procedures in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration:

– CoolSculpting
– Cooltech
– CLATUU 360

This treatment can be performed on all areas of the body that have fatty deposits and boasts noticeable results after 4-6 weeks, as well as fat reduction continuing for up to 12 weeks after treatment. Prior to undergoing this chosen treatment, a comprehensive one-on-one consultation session is required to determine your treatment goals and assess your body shape, so that the appropriate fat freezing techniques will be individually tailored for the most successful outcome. Patients with cold-induced conditions like cryoglobulinemia, cold urticarias and paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria should not have cryolipolysis. Patients with loose skin or poor tone may also not be suitable candidates for the procedure, as unlike TruSculpt ID, Cryolipolysis doesn’t have any effect on skin texture or laxity.

Both TruSculpt ID and Cryolipolysis continue to be the most contemporary and sought after non-invasive treatment options for permanent removal of fat cells. They both have numerous benefits, such as:

– Most sessions taking one hour or less
– No post-treatment downtime
– Evident results in as little as a few weeks
– Up to 30% fat reduction

Essentially, they’re both excellent treatment options that largely provide the same service, with some slight variations when it comes to who may or may not be an appropriate candidate, and that extra cherry on top of TruSculpt ID in the form of some skin tonal improvement. But before pledging your allegiance to either treatment option, a thorough and personalized consultation with a professional treatment provider is essential; so we’re not left singing “Hot n Cold” by Katy Perry when you leave your initial appointment.
